Found in a barn in rural USA, there for 5 years, not licensed since 1992 - it's a 1981 P501 MPR2T+17377+ Pianale and it's for sale - AND it's supercharged! (not!) - Ken
If this P501 was brought to me for restoration, I'd strip everything first until I had just the cab with it's box frame on a rolling elevated dolly and then I'd have it soda blasted (outside) and then roll it into my friends Powder Coating oven and have it zinc primed (gray). Then bodywork can be done, ready for finish painting. The Sabbiatrice is my friend's and we use glass media for cleaning the frame, suspension and all the small parts. The frame/suspension would be powder coated black and the rest spray painted color/colour of choice. My friend's Sabbiatrice has an extension box and is large enough to do the frame and doors simply by flipping them around. One day I'll have my own Sabbiatrice and it'll look like this one - - Sabbiatrice is now in my vocabulary, grazie - Ken
The trick is SODA - sand is too harsh for such thin metal. It's non toxic and safe to use, it's bicarbonate of soda and it's also used to reduce acid in swimming pools. We use it to clean brick on old houses. In a sandblaster we use glass beads and it's self contained. If you have good friends who have an unusual interest in Ape's it can be done cost effectively. Good friends! - Ken -

http://ets.freetranslation.com/ - Apepiaggio uses Babelfish, I've been using this one. I know it will be a grand and glorious day which I will attempt in time - perhaps our holiday to Italy in the Spring will immerse me so I can soak up the language. But, I shall try - in the meantime think of it as an English Immersion Class! - ciao - Motore Johnsoni
johnson=the son of john=il figlio di gianni

I have a Service Station Manual for Ape MP in English but haven't scanned it yet. Do you have any such manual? When I get time I'll upload it to my website for anyone to use.
