Restauro ape 501
Restauro ape 501

Merci

Re: ristorazione ape 501
Welcome. Visit my website where you will find manuals and restoration files for the P501.
I personally recommend that you keep the Ape as original a possible. The engine is designed for torque, not speed. If you swerve to avoid a cat you will surely be upside down if you're going even faster.
The original cylinder can be bored four times with oversize piston kits available. Keep it simple, a big bore kit also requires a change in carburetion.
Better to use slightly larger tires - 4:50x10 instead of the original 4:00x10, they have a larger circumference.
Turn the key to 'on' and with a test light at the coil you will be able to see if there's power going to the coil. You can also move to the other terminal and by rotating the fan you will see on the test light if the points are opening and closing.
Make sure the coil wire is well seated in the coil and properly attached to the spark plug. - Ken
Bienvenue.
- Ken - http://www.kjjohnson.ca -

Good evening,
Thank you for your answer and your advise(recommend), I am not a big connoisseur in mechanics.
Can you tell me or connects the black thread of the screwdriver tester?
Bonsoir,

Re: ristorazione ape 501
You must check the wire from the coil to the spark plug. Pull it from the coil and make sure the internal wire is bare and when pushed into the coil it seats properly at the bottom and then slide down the rubber covering to lock it in place.
If you have a spare spark plug (NGK B7HS is correct and the gap is already set at the factory) either use it or remove the current spark plug from the engine and insert it in the end of the wire coming from the coil and set it on a rag on top of the motor where you can see it when you turn over the engine. Turn over the motor and see if there's a spark in the gap of the spark plug. Post a photo of your current spark plug so we can see - the gap in the spark plug should be .23 - Keep your hands off the spark plug while turning over the motor or you'll receive a nasty shock - Ken

I think that the contact breaker is HOURS it does not open when I turn(shoot) the magneto.
I would have several rooms(parts, plays) to be commanded(ordered) have you a good address(place)?

Re: ristorazione ape 501
You must dig deeper I'm afraid to say. The trouble will probably be with a very worn brass thrusting plate #104 in the clutch. If it's badly worn the small pieces of brass migrate upwards along the drive pin #87 and will usually seize and then break the drive pin. In your case it looks more severe like perhaps the distributor was not fastened in place properly but I will need to see the clutch cover removed to make sure the actuating pad #100 and retaining spring #102 are properly in place and not damaged as well - you will need some replacement parts - Ken
A is new and correct - B is new but is missing the oiling groove - C is correct but worn
By the looks of the wire you will need a new condenserwe buy/restore/sell P501 and P601s and parts/manuals/handbooks
