Ape TM 703: Non trovo l'aria (starter)

Ciao, ho un ape TM 703 del '99, ma non capisco dove sia l'aria da tirare per metterla in moto da freddo...
Qualcuno può darmi una mano? (Se è difficile da spiegare, magari anche con una foto)

I thought the black lever works on the warm air flow (changing his direction from feet to front glass)

Today i try the startup with the black lever pulled

There will be another lever of some sort to change direction of the air flow from cabin floor to defroster mode - have a look. Make sure the elbow on the main cooling shroud is turned towards the carburetor in really cold weather to prevent carburetor icing - Ken

A client in Toronto who drives his Ape all year had to make this elbow to get the warm air flow directly on the carburetor to prevent icing and it worked. The original elbow piece wasn't able to blow enough warm air on the carburetor.

If i use the APE in extremely cold condition i follow your instruction...

Now i can start the APE without problem
I think i need to clean the carburetor because the APE shutdown when i'm at the stop or i wait my turn in a cross....

I try, but seems.... I rotate clockwise, but the idle stay too low...

turn the correct screw (the one on the left, the bigger one) inwards until it stops. Then unscrew one turn which should be very close to being correct. There is an adjustment if needed on the top where the cable is attached to the throttle slide - see the photo - Ken

Take a good photo of your carburetor so I/we can see - it's dark over here

Premesso che rimango basito nel pensare che il nostro amico non sia stato in grado di capire che la leva nera è quella dell'aria o arricchitore per di più col simbolo dell'arricchitore stampato sopra in rilievo (tutti i motori di vecchia concezione compresi i tagliaerba e le motoseghe hanno la levetta dell'aria) e nell'ape ce ne sono solo due (starter ed aria calda vicinissime tra loro).......(scusami ma è più forte di me)......mi complimento con Ken per aver sottolineato (è il primo che lo ricorda) che è molto importante girare il manicotto dell'aria sotto la cuffia di raffreddamento nella posizione I "INVERNO" nella stagione fredda ed "E" nella stagione calda dato che questa cosa non viene più indicata nei manuali di istruzione anche recente. Infatti è importante che il carburatore venga "riscaldato" quando è molto freddo onde evitare che si ghiacci causa l'umidità dell'aria aspirata dal manicotto di gomma verso il collettore. Ciò accade soprattutto se c'è nebbia. Molti anni fa ricordo che sulle vetture come le Alfa o le Fiat bisognava girare una levetta che consentiva all'aria aspirata dall'esterno per il carburatore di essere riscaldata dal collettore di scarico.

This is good. Check the 'supporto elastico' to make sure it's not cracked and leaking air which leans the mixture. It will crack with age because of the vibrations it's subject to when you're driving the Ape. - Give the Ape a good bath! - Ken
