Salve a tutti mi sapete dire se la spia della batteria deve stare sempre accesa nella tm 703? e se è normale che la batteria si scarichi facilmente se è nuova?
Grazie mille gente

Re: Batteria tm 703?
You must check the dynastarter to see if it's putting power out to the battery. Go to my website, download for free the Manuale per Stazioni di Servizio and look up the section for the dynastarter and troubleshooting problems with it. A voltage probe at your local garage will tell you if the dynastarter is working or not. If the battery is new to the Ape check and make sure it's NEGATIVE - TO GROUND and that the ground strap is clean and making good contact. Let me know or post some photos. Here are some photos of a Voltage Probe that I borrow from the Bayfield Garage to do testing with. You can see it on the floor next to the motor test stand beside the battery charger. Ken

Re: Batteria tm 703?
You put the tester on the D+ terminal to see what output is coming from the dynastarter. Attach the ground clip to a bolt, set the pointer on the D+ terminal with the motor running, push the button and it'll tell you the output which will change with RPM. Gruppo Generatore is page 42 on the TM703 Service Station Manual, have a look, it's in Italian. You only need to test terminal 30 to see if there's current coming to the starter side to turn it over and start the motor. Once the dynastarter reaches a set speed it switches to Generator mode and produces power back to the battery, that's what you need to test. Worn brushes are a common problem. More serious problems require taking it to an Automotive Electrical Repair Shop. - Ken

Re: Batteria tm 703?
Well that's good, the expensive part is out of the way. Is the battery light still lit on the dash when you're driving? Does it go off at high rev's? One other thing - have you checked the tension of the fan belt? There should be no more give in it (movement or slack) than 7mm. Use a pencil with an eraser on it and remove the rubber plug above the fan belt and insert the eraser end in the hole and down until it touches the fan belt. Make a mark on the side of the pencil. Now push the pencil down to take up any slack and make another mark on the pencil. The difference between the two marks should not be more than 7mm ( use a 7mm wrench as a guide). If it's more than 7mm tighten the fan belt and/or replace it if it's worn. If the fan belt is old and dry it may be slipping. Tell me how you made out, Simon wants to know. Fuse problem - thank goodness it's a small problem and inexpensive but always keep spares in your tool kit. - Ken
