This is where we use the Supra Expert caulking on our construction sites - black counter flashing on top of step flashing, caulking seals it to the brickwork. Rained and rained and the toilet is washed away, only the nuts are left. Simon is tired of the rain so he naps a lot. Ken

Re: Lavori in corso su tm p703
I have a question: Did you lift the edges of the windshield rubber to see if there's rust underneath? You might want to go around the edges with some White Lithium Grease when you're finished. Cleans up easily but will protect the metal. The special tool came from a friend who works at a Windshield Repair Shop - it's plastic, won't harm the paint, has a rounded tip to get under the rubber to lift it up (see Vespacar Restoration on my website for window removal/replacement for a few tips). Inject the grease around the window rubbers as the last thing you do to make sure the paint is well cured. Clean the grease off the paint and the rubbers with Fantastic, works like a charm, the rubbers will look like new. - Ken

Re: Lavori in corso su tm p703
- Maybe it's because I'm getting older. I believe knowledge is to be passed on, I do this every day in my Construction business. The young men who work for us learn the trade and move on usually to start their own business. Then I train the new men who eventually do the same. The restoration of an Ape is similar to the restoration of an old house. It's in the details. Before I start the restoration of a house I ' read the story '. With that I mean I try to understand not only what went into the making of the house but by looking at the details I can tell if it was constructed by craftsmen or not. My first restoration of an Ape was my black P501. It probably took me two months of studying it and ever so slowly taking it apart to see how it was produced and why certain things were used in its production. Simplistic, effective and with good design but like anything, must be maintained. I guess what makes me wonder the most about an Ape is the lack of knowledge other than in Factory Manuals available to us. Probably the times, and the lack of Internet which has brought far reaching owners together. Where are all the Factory trained mechanics and the Dealers who serviced these machines for over 60years? Staring at the sunset I suppose, a bit tired and worn out. I mentioned ' It's in the details ' - the attached photo tells me a lot about the man who went to much effort to create this fine detail and it's much appreciated by one who takes pride in the details of my work. Not everyone will notice, but those who look will, and it will be appreciated. I still have much more to do, but look closely at Aronne's craftsmanship, it's fabulous. 'The Farm' is on my website. 1843 farmhouse restoration. Had been empty for 25 years. Best historical renovation project in my 38 years of this type of work. Have a look. - Ken - http://www.kjjohnson.ca/construction/thefarm.html
