Antoine

Re: mon ape
Bonjour Antoine. If I can be of any assistance please ask. Greetings from Canada, I'll be interested in your restoration and you will find many helping hands on this website. Restorations here in Canada are also tres difficile but not impossible. I have clients in Quebec so I'm able to practice my French from time to time. Feel free to download any manuals which might help you from our website. Best of luck - Ken

Re: mon ape
Thanks for your support and for answering in French. I'm sorry but I don't speak Italian at all, so I will post in French and English.
So I have now started the restoration, by firstable taking off the back part, and then a good cleaning !

Re: mon ape
it seems to me that you should try to make a list of parts you need.
your next step should be to take of the roof /front window.
then engine-differential but to do that you have to take out the drive shafts...you will have to make a tool for that but its on the site.
look very good at the ape from apepiaggio as its closest to yours.

Re: mon ape
the parts you look for can be found without too many problems.
is no 4 the clip for the air filter?
you will need also "some" other parts like :
grips (manopoli)
bearings (cuscinetti)
brake shoes (ganasce)
clutch (frizione)
and many rubber parts.

Re: mon ape
Bonjour,
Hello,
Yes the 4 is for the air filter. What are the "bearings" and "clutch", I'm sorry but I don't understand these words.

Re: mon ape
OK, I think I understand. But apparently those parts are good and don't need to be changed.

Re: mon ape
the problem with older motors is that rubber has the tendency to get hard.
a lot of problems arise from that.
everything should be replaced , no matter what it looks like.
damages cost far more than replacing.
either you drive the ape till it stops and then sell it for parts or you do a real restoration, everything in between is a waste of time and money.
restoring an old ape easily takes 1000 hours and from 1000 to 2000 euro.
of course if you do a real restoration you can use the ape for the rest of your life..........if its not a workhorse..........

Re: mon ape
If your frame number is higher than 01601, the original mounted battery has 12V and 18Ah.

Re: mon ape
Bon travail.

Re: mon ape
When you install the battery, make sure you have a battery tray (plastique) underneath with a drain hole to the outside. Battery acid causes a lot of rust! - Ken
