I've had scooters for 25+ years, but got my first Ape about a year ago. I first found two AC models then the AB3. The AB runs well, but has the most worn out top end that I've ever heard. It sounds like a 1000 marbles bouncing inside of a garbage can!

I will post on the Technical forum as well, but does anyone know the correct Max Meyer color for the AB3? It looks like 6000M, but that color was not used after 1950 for the scooters.

Hi: The AC4 looks like an ACMA from France (headlight) - You're probably the original "American Picker" - (I'm the Canadian one) - welcome, lots of info on my website that may be of use to you. - Ken

I'm pretty sure the AC4 is a US model. I have another with the same headlight mount and I also have a few NOS head light mount parts from a US dealer. These were faro basso in Europe, but had to have light moved up to the center of the legshield for the US market.

Here's an ACMA Vespa for sale in France. Same mount was used in Brasil. The serial number will tell you. - Ken

That's because they were produced from 1962-1967. Serial numbers help don't they. - Ken

Yes - It is an AC1 not AC4.
