Re: in cerca di manuale
Luigi: Go to my website - http://www.kjjohnson.ca - help yourself to the P501 Manuals. I have a Service Station Manual as well (English) and can help you with P501's, it's my specialty. Look in "Api di Ken" as I've posted lots of information on P501 restorations and you'll also find on my website "Vespacar Restoration" which is my current P501 restoration which you'll find useful for reference. - The Manuals are free to download - Ken

Luigi: Look in Parts Information at the list of Manuals and Handbooks. English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Look also in the MP Manuale per Stazioni di Servizio (it's Italian) and everything is so similar it will assist you. If you have a specific problem - ask - I will help as will others. What problem are you having? Ken

Re: Cerco manuale officina Ape P501
Thanks Ken for your information!
I downloaded the manual for MP,
in fact many things are equal Sure I can need it!
my problem is as follows:
lights regularly, but only with the open air, after a while I close the air, and the engine is smooth and fine, the only thing that is not very good uphill is not aggressive at all.
is a timing problem or should I change the cylinder and piston, its original miles are 55,000.
I thank you again

Re: Cerco manuale officina Ape P501
It will probably be timing which is affected as the points wear. Take a photo of the distributor so I can see the bolt in its slide and I can see how much advance there is in the timing. You may need a set of points if they're pitted. - I can post instructions on how to set the timing from my Manual but it's identical to the instructions in the MP Manual. Ken

He Ken!!
here's the pictures that I took following the instructions from your manual
I sent a photo of the candle too,
because it seems dirty as if it were not well screwed.
What do you think is in the process?
I just gotta rectify cylinder and piston?
hello! and greatings from Italy

If the candle (spark plug) is really black the mixture is too rich. If it's light brown it's too lean. If it's covered in oil the rings are worn. Ken

Re: Cerco manuale officina Ape P501
The candle (spark plug) looks quite normal in use. Use these photos to guide you to carburetor settings. Use a small mirror - in Neutral, turn the large fan with your finger until you meet resistance (you'll be nearing TDC) and keep checking the gap in the points. When the breaker arm is on the highest point of the distributor lobe this will be the widest gap in the points. They should be between .15" and .19" (check your Manual for Metric). If the gap isn't wide enough or too wide you need to replace or reset the points and timing. Check the O ring on the bottom of the distributor when you pull it apart, that distributor of yours is extremely dirty inside. - Ken

Re: Cerco manuale officina Ape P501
The more photos you post of your machine showing things you're having problems with the easier it is for me to understand and see. Easier for me to help you. Make sure the drain hole in the distributor cap points downwards and that there's a seal around the cap to keep dust out. Here are some photos of a distributor showing key elements. Get yourself an inline fuel filter. Api are notorious for getting water in the gas tank. I've just had a bad experience with my black P501 that cost me a lot of time to fix and I believe because we've had such a wet Summer and it had to sit outside while I was working on my latest restoration I got some water in the tank either from condensation or around the cap. Very frustrating. - Ken
