Re: Apecar di drflicorny
It's the bulkhead ahead between the front motor mounts and the engine that's the problem on the P501. So little room. Threads are impossibly small. I just lifted my engine in place after pushing the speedometer cable through towards the cabin. You'll know best, don't have the ApeCar here in Bayfield to study. Great work by the way. - Ken

I mounted the engine in the Ape, and I have also revised the rear brakes. It 'was a race against time, so I only got to photograph the tachometer cable. I hope you can understand something from the photos, but I can tell you that the insertion makes it easily by hand and then tighten with pliers. But I worked with a lift.

space is not much but enough for easy insertion. Nothing to do with the screw caps of the shafts, just as an example. That was a very uncomfortable job

Re: Apecar di drflicorny
The reason why I installed mine before mounting the engine was that one of the other motors I'd worked on the cable had been removed and the fine threads were partially stripped of their threads making it extremely difficult in that tight space to properly mount it. Thanks for all the photos, if that P2 winds up here in Bayfield I can use your photos for reference. - Ken

I still have to replace the throttle cable that is frayed and I have to fix the air filter and eliminate the seepage upstream of the carburetor. I modified the air box by removing bottlenecks, but I have not mounted the filter because I had not. Ken, if you need some photos do not hesitate to ask.

Re: Apecar di drflicorny
Is it gas seepage or two stroke oil? If it's gas it will be the needle in the float of the carburetor. If it's worn it lets gas seep by and it lies in the carburetor block and intake manifold. The rubber tip of the needle gets worn causing this. - Ken

have air infiltration, but occur between the carburetor and air box. The needle is ok, I checked before installation; the oil, with separate lubrication don't pass in the carburetor, is directly injected into the flywheel side main bearing, and then pass to lubricate the cylinder and the connecting rod.

Re: Apecar di drflicorny
it isn't cracked, but I've changed carburetor, and the mounting diameter is a little smaller. Some silicone gasket should solve the problem.
