Put in the motor at the top dead center with a 5 rod in the hole I had to rotate the whole slide to allow the pins to open by turning on the bulb

After setting TDC the distributor is mounted with the points just about to open. Think you need to turn the drive slot 180 degrees as you may have set it where points are just beginning to close. Remember rotation of the fan. Ken
