acquisto del motore
acquisto del motore
Buone tarde
Grazie mille in anticipo.

Re: acquisto del motore
Buenos dias Rafa 1966.

¡Buena suerte!

Re: acquisto del motore
You may find something on Subito, a brief search gave me: https://www.subito.it/accessori-auto/mo ... 042456.htm
Hard to tell if they ship to Spain. Ask as it cost nothing to do it, who knows..
Also be advised that those motors are with all the best possibility in a bad state and require a lot of work in order to be operational again.

Re: acquisto del motore
I agree with his words, but here in Spain I can't find anything. The official services ask me for 2000 euros for a new one, including postage, I can't find it in the scrapyard. here in Spain my Ape was sold very little, instead the 50 cubic centimeters there are many. Thank you very much for your advice, a big hug from Spain.brugnara ha scritto: ↑25 ottobre 2022, 13:29 You may find something on Subito, a brief search gave me: https://www.subito.it/accessori-auto/mo ... 042456.htm

Re: acquisto del motore
No problem, and I too was going to recommend subito for your search. I did get a complete running engine for my Vespa Automatica directly from Japan, so you should have better luck closer to the continent there, not necessarily from Japan but Europe. Are there any local Vespa groups to join or any luck with Facebook groups for the Ape?Rafa1966 ha scritto: ↑25 ottobre 2022, 13:59Grazie mille Mr. Mario per le sue informazioni, seguirò il suo consiglio.MarioNYC ha scritto: ↑24 ottobre 2022, 17:31 Rafael,

Re: acquisto del motore
Doesn't look to be a bad find, and the seller deals with engines of all types. If the price is right, this could be the start of a process to learn about rebuilding and replacing seals and checking wear points. Don't know how they arrived at that price.brugnara ha scritto: ↑25 ottobre 2022, 13:29 You may find something on Subito, a brief search gave me: https://www.subito.it/accessori-auto/mo ... 042456.htm

Re: acquisto del motore
It is a standard price for an engine here in Italy. The problem is that you don't know how it was used, how many chilometers it has and if it works, for how long you can use it and if there are hidden broken parts. Basicly you are just gambling against the future yourself.
We should consider that a 2 strokes engine of this kind, may require a lot of replacements, and for me the pain point was the aspiration valve that caused me to change the whole engine frame (priced 1.100€, ), just as an example. Add another 1.500€ of parts and do the math.
A professional may ask you at least 1.000€ just to reassemble the engine and since it requires tools you will not find to buy, I strongly recommend you to think twice before starting this project. Just as and example, there are no way to put the crankshaft in place without the Piaggio tool, and here in Italy I asked a Piaggio service to do the job, because one may just want to avoid using the hammer
I don't know if in Spain there are someone able to do this, maybe I'm wrong.
Let me conclude saying that here in Italy, many people consider to change the Ape when the engine is broken, because it costs a lot of money to fix it and it is just not worth it. Outside the Italy there are even more difficulties to find pieces and the price will be a pain.
An Ape 50 could obviously be more affordable, in my opinion, since it shares many pieces within the Vespa and the community around them are flourish compared to the TM.

Re: acquisto del motore
Excellent points. It all depends upon how much you really want to have that Ape back and running or choose another project. In the US here the Ape is a rarity, so any possibility of getting parts which I can afford versus the enjoyment I get afterwards is what I have to consider. We too had many vehicles here that when broken down it was easier to junk them rather than maintain them or rebuild them. Some I remember back on and could kick myself as their prices now, even as junk, are far and above what I would have ever paid for one back when I bought mine.
I think one of Rafa's questions may have been whether he could substitute an Ape 50 engine (+drivetrain?) into his Ape TM, and that would probably not be a great idea as well.
The best way if he were to keep the current Ape would be to have the support locally or within Spain of a club or another collector who could help.
Re: acquisto del motore
There is a group on Facebook called VESPACAR ESPAÑA, its partners work a lot with Vespacars but not with APEs, I recommend you visit it, thank you very much for your support of my project.MarioNYC ha scritto: ↑25 ottobre 2022, 16:02No problem, and I too was going to recommend subito for your search. My hobby is building 1/35 scale models, I have never restored any vehicle but for me this APE is my first 1/1 scale model, hahahaMarioNYC ha scritto: ↑25 ottobre 2022, 16:15Doesn't look to be a bad find, and the seller deals with engines of all types. Re: acquisto del motore
Thank you very much for your note, that's why I'm thinking if I have problems putting a 50 motor on it, I only want it to take rides with it on weekends. Do you think that a 50 motor has the strength to move my Ape? Here in Spain there are more spare parts for 50 cubic centimeter motors.brugnara ha scritto: ↑25 ottobre 2022, 16:36 It is a standard price for an engine here in Italy.
