PISTON DAMAGE

First photo shows what happens when the wrist pin circlip isn't properly installed in its groove and the circlip comes loose when the motor is running and damages the piston.

Second photo shows damage to a P501 piston in Belgium. I believe something like a washer dropped into the exhaust port when the muffler was installed after the motor was repaired. I've never seen damage like this before.

third photo shows piston suffering from 'cold seizure'. New piston in honed cylinder - motor not properly run-in. High speed run for 11km and not warming up the engine. The aluminum piston expanded faster than the cast iron cylinder and the engine seized. Warm up the engine and properly run-in the overhauled motor - high test gasoline and a proper 2% fuel mix with 2stroke oil must be used and treat her gently!

The new 'cuffia tenuta olio' are so stiff you must use a heat gun to soften it so the new oil seal in the 'boccola' can be inserted in the interior slot. Use a socket extension to hold it in place and press down until it is properly seated. Wear gloves, it's hot!

When a drive shaft 'semiasse' is removed from the differential side of the motor often a slide block will fall inside where the oil drain plug is located.
If it's not removed (use a magnet) and left inside the motor this is the damage that will be caused if you go over a bump on the road and the pattino gets caught in the gears and the motor will seize causing extensive damage.

Quando un albero motore 'semiasse' viene rimossa dal lato cambio del motore spesso un pattino cadrà all'interno dove si trova il tappo di scarico.
