I can't find the notebook with my notes at the moment. However, I remember a connection wire between a differential bolt and one of the tipper bolts.

POLICE APE AD1T - Manual shows braided ground strap with two holes, similar to one's used on P501, P601 and MP models. I have a spare so can install one as you've shown as well. Moved on to installing rear shield behind battery area and started fabricating a heat shield to go above the muffler as the box floor is wood and close to the muffler - don't want a fire! - Ken

Hello Ken,

i love to see the progress on your AD!

I have one question:

At the moment you have the engine without electric starter, but the lever is still there.
To install the starter motor you need to change the whole clutch cover, will you do it in the future or don't you have a clutch cover and a starter motor yet?

Normally most of the 12 Volt engines all had the electric starter, apart from the german models.

I have everything except the starter motor which was missing when I purchased the Ape. I've converted it to a pull start to be able to move things along until one day I find the correct starter motor. So many things missing that were left behind by a prior owner who started on the motor and then gave up leaving important pieces behind - many pieces.
If you can take some photos showing the stamping on the motor I can use them in my search. For now I'd like to finish it to the point I can back it out of the shop and take it for a drive! - Ken Motor and bits arrived in the blue box.Even Cynthia would come every day, wondering how I was going to restore the Ape. I wish she were still alive to see the transormation. Perhaps one of her children will come. - Ken
