P501 Vespacar final touches before it's painted

Is it hard to find parts for oldies like this? For some parts I had some troubles finding them for the 703 and for something like this my guess is that it is a real challenge. Am I wrong?

I was warned back in 2000 by the original importer of the API I work on to stick to restoring the P501's he'd imported to limit the stock of parts I would have to maintain servicing them. Now as the years have passed I have a large stock of parts but find it ever harder as many parts are discontinued from Piaggio. I use various suppliers to fill my needs. Not impossible but now more difficult.
Never worked on a TM703 as only a handful entered Canada. I purchased all remaining stock of parts from the original importer when he retired

Ken,

That was a fine masking job, but these aren't split rims? When did the Ape change from splits to solid rims?

Changed with introduction of MP models and 10" rims to carry more weight - Ken

The way you repainted makes me feel a bit uncomfortable.

In my Ape I found the inside of the rims very rusty. Took me a whole day to clean them with the sandblaster before the painting.

Aren't you worried about the hidden rust?

The rims I've already sandblasted and painted with Aluminum Tremclad so rust was dealt with. Outer face of the rims I've then painted with chrome paint as another top coat. Some clients want gold rims, even white. - Ken
