By your license plate it looks like you've bought yourself an Ape! Congratulations. Not bad looking at all. Thank goodness the floors of the cabin like alright, not rusted through. You'll need a new front fender and headlight surround, they're both cracked and a new cabin beading with ends as well. The brakes will need attention by the look of the brake fluid reservoir, only partially full and very dirty brake fluid. Not surprised. I see all the cooling shrouds are in place, but the air cleaner is hanging loose and there's quite a bit of rust on that portion of the rear frame. This can be scraped and wire brushed and repainted and then spray undercoating in the access holes to stop further rusting. The pianale bed looks well worn and slightly dented but not completely rusted through. All that I see can be fixed. Seems there's been some touchup painting done here and there which tells me the prior owner tried to maintain it (see batteria photo) but get yourself a battery tray with drain hole and use an overflow tube for the battery. How does it run? In your photo "interno cabina 3" I've noticed the fuses aren't all 8amp (the white ones). With higher rated fuses if there's an electrical problem the fuse won't control the short to the same extent and you may have a wiring fire - they should all be 8amp fuses. I see you need a new seat, probably the backrest and door panels with pockets would be nice as well, but spray undercoating in the bottom of the doors to prevent rust first. - Ken

adesso , piano piano (e portafoglio permettendo), voglio rimetterla a posto,
cominciando dalle riparazioni più urgenti...

userò questo post per fare un piccolo elenco/promemoria di quello che mi serve


1) 3 gomme nuove
2) liquido freni (occorre sostituzione)
3) parafango anteriore porta faro
4) fascione esterno cabina
5) diverse guarnizioni di gomma
6) 1 barattolo di vernice speciale da applicare direttamente sulla ruggine
7) lampadina interno cabina
8) lampadina luce anteriore abbagliante/anabbagliante
9) lampadina per spia luce abbagliante
10) pulsante di accensione

bellisimo aquisto! sembra la mia con qualche anno in meno.... la mia però per fermare gli sportelli a cordoncini di pelle e non di plastica. mi sembra di vedere che anche la tua ha il fondo deformato da come è stata trainata, per la vernice speciale da appliccare su la ruggine, fidati che non funziona..le ho provate tutte!!!! l'unico modo per eliminare veramente la ruggine è la sabbiatura, anche se lo raschi con spazzole di ferro e carta vetrata ti rimengono sempre piccole fioriture che sarebbero da neutralizzare con l'acidi fosforico, ma rimmarra sempre un punto debole. le vernici antirigguni hanno solo una percentuale di fosforo, sono fosfizzanti, ma a parere mie durano poco, rallentano solo un po l'avanzamento della ruggine. se vuoi un consiglio per non rivedere ruggine è da sabbiare e riverniciare..cosa che quando avrò soldi farò fare anche io.
la luce dell'abiticolo, non è altro che una lampadina da targa di una vettura tipo la fiat punto, poi ti consiglio anche di lavare il fondo e di mettere la batteria dentro una vaschetta, a me ha fatto il brutto escherzo di corrodermi il fondo poi attento ai trabocchi del liquido dei freni...quel ligiudo è un acido corrisivo!!! mi ha arrugginito la carena e il fondo grrr... con un po di manutenzione vedrai diventa eterna!!!

Go to my website, Parts Information, download Catalogue of Spare Parts Sections 1-29, print off the pages and you'll have a Spare Parts Book. Quote the Section and number of the parts you're looking for. I have all the rubber seals you're looking for. Use a tube of White Lithium Grease on all the hinges once you've touched them up with paint. I'll post the spray undercoating my bodyshop uses for tight spaces. Works extremely well. Use clear plastic tubing on the pianale bed locks to protect them once repainted. Use DOT3 brake fluid and get or make yourself a brake bleeding kit, all you need is a clear plastic tub with lid and some plastic hose to fit over the bleeder nipple. - Ken

guardando nel libretto ho scoperto che l'Ape ha fatto l'ultima revisione nel lontano 1987,
sto cercando di metterla a posto per fare la revisione,
per adesso ho sistemato la parte elettrica , luci , stop , frecce e accensione sono ok.

i freni per il momento sono a posto , domani se trovo il tempo voglio controllare l'olio del cambio/differenziale.

Smod: Keep at it. A thorough going over will reap benefits when you drive it regularly and will prevent small problems creeping up on you. When you change the oil check the drain plug (it's magnetic) for metal filings from the motor which are stuck to the magnet. It will tell you a lot about the state of your motor. Ken

Domineco: I laughed when I saw these photographs. You're a man after my own heart! May I use these photos in my "Vespacar Restoration" file on my website? A great explanation. I want you to do something. Within a few weeks after using your Ape for hard work, change the oil again. The inside of your engine will still have that sludge oil everywhere. Make sure the engine is hot when you change the oil again, this will help it flow out the drain.
