Oren: What does it say in #1692 - there are markings but I can't read them. On the back it says 12v 30amp and I can see that. There is a screw hole in #1694 on the right side so that plays a part in this. Unless someone else has a similar solenoid you'll have to leave it with me to see what I can find out. The wiring instructions in the post above comes out of my P601 handbook and is valid for coil/points ignition (which you have) - Ken

Hi Ken,
I will wait for your answer and I also will try to check veteran garages that fix Apes in the past.
There are no mechanic that want to handle with Ape, those who used to fix Apes and can remember something
were retired. The last civilian Apes in Israel were sold in the middle of the 80's, most of them to the army. there are few from the 90's but it was belong to embassies and few of them to the U.N (like personal importing).
We had P2 in the 90's, 1986 model, that we bought from an old upholsterer. It was in very good condition and we sold it after 4 years.
We so sorry about this stupid sale...
Thank you,
Oren.

Great photos, looks like a good time but I should send some snow! There are P2 Manuals on my website for anyone there who wishes to use them. The green P2 is going to need some work. This is a P501 that I've shipped to Michigan, USA. Ken

New photos of the Ape:
you can see in photo 3 the deep scratch. the cylinder was disqualified. i found a new cylinder kit in an old workshop at Tel aviv that used to work with the army. he also have anoter 30 pistons for Ape and much mor for Lambretta & Lambros.
The plastic cooling headset is totaly broken, i must buy a new set. hope to find it in Piaggio agency.
I thing that i need to adjust the ignition. there are back-fires and the engine run very unstable.
Is there any guide how to do that?
Thank you,
Oren.

Hi: You must first set the motor at TopDeadCenter 'TDC'. Use a rod to line up the two holes with the slot in the flywheel. Then follow the instructions in the Manual to set the points properly. Make sure the breather tube on the cylinder head is free of debris. It's often plugged and will cause back pressure and misfiring. Your problem probably isn't carburation, it will be ignition. Minor adjustments to timing can be made with the slide on the distributor. - Ken - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGmbliEz9g4 -

Oren: Don't be quick to discard the old cylinder. It can be bored/honed out for oversize pistons. Look in 'Api di Ken' at my last postings, you'll see the scoring on the cylinder walls and the shape the piston was in after it blew up. We were able to hone it out (in a can of Varsol for lubrication) and fitted a 63.4 piston (could still go one more size to 63.6). By the look of the oil around the top of the cast iron cylinder below the cylinder head this tells me there was 'blowby' probably because the vent tube was plugged and the small groove in the cylinder head was plugged. Maybe the head wasn't torqued down properly as well. No way there should be that much oil/dirt there. The groove must be cleaned out and use a plastic nozzle from a can of WD40 to free the breather tube. Ken
