Ape Classic 2006

grazie infinite a tutti!!

You will have to pull the front wheel and with the Ape jacked up spin the brake hub and listen for the noise. Do it slowly at first to see if there's any rubbing of the brake pads against the drum. If it is, mark both the brake drum and the backplate in the same spot before you remove the hub. This will tell you if it's the front or rear brake pad. Chances are something has come loose inside. Probably not a bearing for the front hub but you might have to check that as well. You'll not find a colour code for the wheel rims. Instead buy youself some anti-rust paint in 'aluminum' and paint the rims inside and out. Weather in India generally doesn't lead to the kind of rust you or I encounter. I use Tremclad paint for the rims and brake drums. Ken

The new owner of the "Classic" that I had in my shop hated the big plastic nosepiece so I did some modifications for him. Ken

Ciao.

Non so.

When I brought the Ape Classic to my Shop there was also a noise from the left rear wheel. Upon examination I found the end of the cable for the emergency brake had come undone and pieces of it were rattling around inside the brake drum. I made a repair and it worked fine after that. Funny feeling I have that when it was tied down for transporting the tie-downs went over the emergency brake cable and stretched it to a point the end broke loose. Something worth checking, I bet it something small like my experience. Ken

Ape Classic wiper motor is a worm gear type located under the dash. You can see the rotating wand (covered) that comes from the dash up to the wiper arm at the base of the windshield. Ken
