Restauro ape 500 MP

In english:
Does anyone know if the cables for the clutch, the gearbox and the throttle are the same as the ones in the ape 600mp/601mp?

Re: Restauro ape 500 MP
Be careful - remember the long chassis is different from your model. You can use the clutch and shifter cables as they can have the ends shortened once installed. The throttle cable and choke cable will be the same length as on a P501. Quite often the inner cable cannot be pulled from the sheath on the throttle cable or choke cable as the tip is too large to fit through the sheath. It would have been added after the cable was initially installed in the sheath. You may have to replace both sheath and cable with the new ones and although tricky to do is easier if you're very careful and have some help - pull too hard and you'll be in a 'pickle' if the jointing tape comes apart. - Ken
roll tape around the ends first as if rolling a cigarette and then wrap electrical tape from one cable to the other over the inner rolled tape - start at the rear and it won't catch on somethingwe buy/restore/sell P501 and P601s and parts/manuals/handbooks

Re: Restauro ape 500 MP

Finally i've finished (kind of) the restoring of my ape. I'm plannig to rebuild the bed on next summer (in the documentation there is the date when it was converted from the box bed to the standard one). from the last update i've done this works: Changed the brakes pump, tires and inner tubes, the leather of the seats, built the radio holder and the glovebox, rebuilt the elecrtical plant, changed the seals of the doors, bought new mirrors annd polished all the alluminum bits ad pieces. In the meantime i maneged to get the diving licence and i started using it. I only have a doubt with the max rpms and speed i can do with it safely. If anyone has an answer I will be glad to hear it.

Very nice indeed, you must be proud of your work. As for the engine and its performance just remember one thing "One does not cut wood with a chainsaw at idle" so keep the revs up and be gentle when shifting gears. - Ken - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFderem ... 9w&index=9 -

Re: Restauro ape 500 MP
