I agree with the list, sometimes it's the smallest of things. One other check is to make a ring of steel the width of the brake shoes and exact diameter of the interior of the brake drum (best way is to find an old drum and cut out the facing) and once set over the shoes a person can see how the brake shoes act against the ring when the brake is applied. This will quickly tell you if alignment is correct as well as shoe adjustment and linkage. - Front wheel bearings take a beating and oscillate if worn. - Ken

More Pentaros - Mazatlan, Mexico - Lighted Advertising trailers, triangular signs which flip and can produce three advertisements per side while driving. To power the sign motors and back lighting an alternator was installed just ahead of the dynastarter. It works. They use a ball for the 5th wheel attachment of the trailer onto the bed of the TM. Quite a bit of weight, the yellow TM had a bent and broken driveshaft. Ken

Back to Ape things - rescued these four rims from the burned Ape's, tires and tubes removed for disposal at the Bayfield Garage. The rims are in great shape, just blackened from the fire. Now to media blast them and repaint them, ready for use once again! Notice how the tubes were split from the heat. The other photo is of MPR2T+26175+ after the fire - Cleaned the rims in the media blaster at the Bayfield Garage and they're ready for paint. - Ken

Mosca: Look in a Barn - that's where I found my first Vespacar, took me a year to restore and now I have six - The first photos were taken the day we took it out of the Barn and the last photo is what it looks like now (That's my mother Cecelia aged 89 who loves to ride in it! - Good luck photo hunting - Ken

When you find an Ape in a Barn - sometimes - it's rolled out of the Barn to fully inspect, and sometimes you can buy it right on the spot! Always keep enough money in your wallet to make a down payment there and then, balance in full when it's picked up. And, look for spare parts and always ask for documentation and any Manuals or papers. Take lots of photographs to remember the event - Ken

I'd like to see a bigger photo of the Transporto Porchetta - Inside another Barn is a P501 which I've purchased for restoration. In the cardboard box you can see a brand new dashboard. The owner had split the Furgone box at the seam and created a Pianale, but when the top is re-attached it once again becomes a Furgone. - Ken

All I get is the "gist" of what it says, never really correct because I use a free translation available on the internet. Speaking of what's on the back of Vespacars, here's a photo of the back of my black P501 - Give me a good translation of what it says on the other Ape -

I have acquired two original stickers for P501 Vespacars imported to Canada in 1982. They were required to be placed in the vehicles by Transport Canada. The original importer was New Line Motors Canada Ltd. Modifications to the European version were required for importation to meet the existing Regulations at that time. The emission sticker was required for export to the USA and a number of them were exported there. - Ken
