The start of a restoration-Ken -

If you go back to page 2 of this post you'll see it was one of the two that had been in a fire. I've had it in storage all this time but had restored the pianale and used it on another P501. There is still oil in the engine and I've kept turning it over to keep it free and it still has compression. The rear of the Ape suffered the least, mostly heat melted some rubber and plastic and electrical wiring covering. It will take some work but it will be fine.
When I bought the P501 that had been in a barn away from the fire the owner threw in the other two so I brought them home. I haven't had time to work on them until now so the adventure begins. - Ken

C'è ancora l'olio nel motore e ho mantenuto rigirandola di mantenerla libera e ha ancora la compressione. La parte posteriore della Ape sofferto meno, soprattutto calore sciolto qualche gomma e plastica e rivestimento cavi elettrici. Ci vorrà un po 'di lavoro, ma andrà bene.
Quando ho comprato il P501 che era stato in un granaio lontano dal fuoco il proprietario ha gettato nelle altre due così li ho portato a casa. Non ho avuto tempo per lavorare su di loro fino ad ora così inizia l'avventura. - Ken

Look at how clean and shiny the piston is - oil filler/dipstick melted - I use rubber plugs to seal the differential when I remove the driveshafts - Ken -

Outside is a mess, inside is fine - lots of cleaning to do -Ken-

muffler cleaned and painted

heat weakened seals in the shock absorbers - discard

warping from the heat, has to be straightened

bad old repairs

ready for paint and assembly
